Sameehan Kashalkar, son and disciple of one of India’s most renowned vocalists, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, is one of today’s finest upcoming musicians of the Gwalior gharana. Born in such a rich musical atmosphere, he has been receiving taleem of the highest order from his father since a very young age. As an A grade Musician Scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, he also underwent training in Thumri and other light classical forms from the legendary Vidushi Girija Devi of the Banaras tradition.
Sameehan’s debut performance at Aundh Mahotsav (near Pune) at the age of 13 won him many accolades. He has given solo performances at various major music festivals in India which include the ITC Sangeet Sammelans in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mangalore; The Sawai Gandharva Festival in Pune; The Vishnu Digambar Jayanti Samaroh in New Delhi; The Sankat Mochan Festival in Varanasi; Pancham Nishad Festival in Mumbai; The Indo Occidental Music Festival in Kolkata; Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal etc.

A recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskaar by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Govt. of India in 2019, the Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav Yuva Puraskaar, he has also been invited to give performances at some of the prestigious music festivals outside India, which include, The Darbar Festival in London; The Asian Music Circuit in London; SIFAS Festival in Singapore; The Malaysian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur; The Bengal Classical Music Festival in Dhaka which is the world’s biggest classical music festival by audience turnout .
